Due to continued growth, my client has a requirement for a senior Network Engineer to join their office in either Glasgow, Bristol or London.
The Role
The successful candidate will support, manage and maintain their customer facing hosted environment as well as assisting in the support and management of their corporate Network and server infrastructure in order to support both their customer and internal business functions and the end users of the core systems and applications.
The Profile
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for management, Maintenance and monitoring the Network and servers to meet the organisation and customers current and future requirements
- Management, maintenance and architecture of storage, virtualised environment, servers, network devices and productivity tools
- Monitor systems and identify performance issues proactively
- Work within strict SLA timeframes and manage escalation of incidents within defined timelines
- Identify problem trends and implement change as required
- Identify, design and plan change as required to ensure continued service availability and ensure all change is carried out in a controlled and tested manor
- Maintain a good working knowledge or relevant infrastructure and future trends
- Provide a point of escalation for the service desk ensuring escalated tickets are managed within SLA.
Requirements:
- Strong background in Cisco networked environments (Routers, switches, Firewalls)
- Strong background in LAN and WAN networking including VPLS networks
- Strong background in BGP / OSPF network management and design
- Firewall Security (VPN Tunnelling, NAT, ACL design/admin)
- Knowledge of and a strong focus on IT security principles and knowledge of ISO27001
- CCNP Level or above Cisco certification (routing & switching / Security)
- Experience of PfSense firewalls
- Experience of Virtual Routers or Software Defined Networking
- Experience of VMware NSX networking
Desirable:
- Experience of Avaya or telephony platforms (VOIP & QOS)
- Background in Windows server (2012 / 2016) and Windows server infrastructure in including Active Directory, scripting, PowerShell, DNS, DHCP. RADIUS, ADFS and LDAP and Certificate services
- Background in centralised storage environments, EMC VNX skills and advantage background in working with Windows server operating systems
- Experience of Virtual Routers or Software Defined Networking
- Experience of VMware NSX networking
- Experience using automated monitoring and log tools and analysing trends and root cause issues such as Nagios, Zabbix Spiceworks etc
- Background in Virtualised environments in particular VMware vSphere (Version 6 and above)
- Experience of Veeam backup solutions
